How Tabilm handles your privacy and data

Last updated 2026.07.08

Summary

In short

Tabilm's privacy approach in one line

Your travel records stay on your device and in your own iCloud. There is no developer server, no analytics, and no ad SDKs — and the developer cannot see your trips or videos.

Data

What we handle, and where it's stored

What, where, and why

Itinerary, plans, packing

Trip title / dates / notes / itinerary / packing list are stored in your iCloud (CloudKit) and on device, synced across your devices.

Clips & thumbnails

Recorded clips and thumbnails (which may include capture coordinates) stay on your device only. For trips you are sharing, only a downscaled proxy video and thumbnail are uploaded to your iCloud shared zone for collaborators — the original full-quality footage stays only on the capturing device.

Imported photos

Trip photos imported from your library stay on device only, and are read only when you turn the toggle on.

Exported Vlogs

Added to your photo library only when you tap "Save to Camera Roll".

Free-export status

The first-export-free flag is stored on device and in your iCloud key-value storage (so it restores on reinstall).

In-app purchase

Purchase state is managed by Apple's StoreKit. Payment is handled by Apple; the app never receives payment details.

In-app feedback

Only when you tap the submit button, your comment text, its category, app / iOS version, device model and language are sent to an iCloud public database (readable by the developer). It contains no personally identifying information such as your name, email or Apple ID.

Permissions

Device features & permissions

You can keep using other features even if you deny any of these

  • Camera / Microphone — used only while you are filming.
  • Location — while in use only. For place search (Apple Maps), itinerary weather (sending plan coordinates to Apple Weather), and tagging clips with location.
  • Photo Library — to import trip photos (read) and to save finished Vlogs (add only).
  • Notifications — local reminders only. There is no push server.

Third party

Third-party services

Apple services only

  • Apple iCloud / CloudKit — storing, syncing and sharing trip data
  • Apple Weather (WeatherKit) — sends plan coordinates to Apple to show itinerary weather
  • Apple Maps (MapKit) — sends your search text to Apple for place search
  • App Store (StoreKit) — in-app purchase

These are all Apple services, governed additionally by Apple's privacy policy. No data is sent anywhere else, and none of this information is sold or shared with third parties.

Sharing

When you share with companions

When you share a trip via iCloud, only people who accept the invite can view and edit that trip's itinerary and packing list. Revoking the share ends their access. For shared trips, captured clips are turned into a downscaled proxy video and thumbnail and uploaded to your iCloud shared zone so collaborators can use them as material for a joint Vlog. Each device uploads only the proxies of clips it captured, and the original full-quality footage stays only on the capturing device. The owner can remove all proxies at once via "Delete shared material in iCloud" in the app.

Deletion

Deleting your data

  • Deleting a trip removes its iCloud data and the device's videos, thumbnails and itinerary.
  • You can leave a shared trip at any time.
  • Deleting the app erases on-device data. iCloud data can be managed/deleted from iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud.
